So I'm too scared of getting flamed/trolled on UG for posting this, so... Hey gents. So I'm going to mod my Boss OS-2, because frankly (And we can all agree on this), it sucks. There's a mod I found that will give the pedal a Marshall Vintage type tone, which I love, so I'll going to use it. Here's what it is: “Marshall” type tones: Location Mod value C28 .22UF AND 1K CONNECTED IN PARALLEL D8 LED D3 LED C27 .047UF C23 10UF C18 .47UF So, first things first. How do I connect the .22uf and 1K caps in parallel? Second, where in the UK can I find suitable LED's for this, and does it matter which kind of LED? Third, will this mod work? Here's the schematic: www.freeinfosociety.com/electronics/schemview.php?id=163 It's a big pic, don't know why they made it the size of a TV. Thanks for the help gents.

The LEDs are prolly just plain old red LEDs (3mm water-clear high-brightness), but I've heard something about using a blue and red (both ultra-bright) giving a Marshall-ish OD tone. Dunno what it was referring to (prolly clipping diode configs in general). For the parallel thing, just do this:

it probably would joel, but the resistors that come with them are for 12v, and i dont think they're supposed to glow once you do install.
edit: they're for higher clipping, less dist. more volume yes jim?

more clipping=more dist=usually more volume
you could just take off the resistors. kurtlives91 says that series resistors counter the compressed sound of LEDs though.

i thought that low clipping levels gave better dist, but gave less volume that diodes with high clipping levels?

low clipping levels=overdrive.
Amplify the piss out of a sine waveform and clip it real low, you essentially get a square wave and massive distortion.
That's how dirtboxes work.
For OD, amplify it just past the threshold of the diode. Snips a little off the top and gives anything from tweed crunch (barely any clipping) to fuzz or something.
Idk how a fuzz clips to sound fuzzy.
