We gotta get some members up in this bitch (pun not intended).
How can we promote this site? Obviously we can't promote it on UG. We can't spam up other forums, b/c the members will have no respect for us and won't bother looking at the site. All we really have is FB and myspace, and other networking sites. None of my FB friends give a damn about guitars. Fucking rednecks. I guess we could link it in these sites, but what about somehing more effective?
Any ideas?

we could try like a poster or something. and pms on UG. but that'd have to be non-socicited. and none of my friends know anything.

^ This may be a good idea, for a bit. We'd have to keep it under control though.

Maybe start inviting anyone who seems mildly knowledgable about different subjects here and make this place a real warehouse for good info

Well of cousre I mean invite people, but how? we can't go around posting this forum. We can prolly get away with doing it 'randomly', but we gotta have a bunch of stuff that UG doesn't have in terms of thread topics and info.

We do jim, we have good mods, who don't care what people do, as long as there not stupid. We also have common sense, unlike some mods on UG.( no offense to the mods in general). I would like to thank you jim, for getting this thread started, as i thought it would be rude to ask people how to promote my own site.
I do plan on paying money for advertisement, but that's later on. Mayhem guitars has a myspace, and i can work on a facebook as well.
My best advice is to bring something different. We need good stickys, with good info in the guitar/customizing/building sections. A good bit of thought needs to be put into the music section sticky's as well.I plan on working on that, as i get free time.
Lastly, we got to be more lenient, and more friendly. UG has way too many assholes.
That's what we got that's different. If you have any advice for the mayhem guitar site, just let me know, and i can see what i can do.
Advertising? after we get those stickys, start referring people to those links. Doesn't matter if a bunch of people post links here, as long as it's good info. I want to teach people about guitars, and building them. I'll gladly do it one person at a time if i have to. UG main purpose is to give out tabs, mine is to teach people.
/really big wall of text.

Yeah, word of mouth is the best advertising, but until then we could link it on or MS and FB pages and refer people here for answers to questions.
also keep in mind that UG has been around since 1999. They might have started out lenient, but had to get tough b/c of the dumbshits in the Pit fucking everything up. At first I was against a Pit-like forum, but it's a necessary evil to keep the shit where it blongs and out of the main site.

Wait.........you went to a GC and someone was actually knowlagable............someone with a job they know stuff about.......ITS THE MOTHER F**KING END OF THE WORLD.............RUN AWAY.
Yeah i think i have a therioy about the GC workers if you had to listen to morons come in all day and talk about something they don't know anything about then have the same individual play smoke on the waters main riff 30 times before leaving I think anyone here would snap or be a dick to anyone that walks through the door.
EDIT: I also Hyperlinked this site in my UG sig as "My guitar Home away from home."

as long as no one hovers over it you'll be fine, but it's against the rules to link to sites that have a forum.

|
Post by blandguitar on May 18, 2009 16:24:59 GMT -5
but plenty of sites that have info have forums. i guess it's loosely regulated? depending on situation

your sig was fine, the worst that could happen to you for it would be you get banned until you agree to take it out, unlikely though. the only thing i advise against is going around to threads and linking to here, since that kid in my example got banned for linking to his site.
